Studies

Marco Molteni (Mariano Comense – Italy – 1962) studied composition with Luciano Chailly and Giuseppe Giuliano at the Conservatorio G.Verdi in Milan, graduating in 1985.
At the same institute he studied electronic music with Riccardo Sinigaglia, graduating with full marks in 1988.
In 1983 and 1984 he attended composing courses held by Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and the French Association MC2 Musique Contemporaine of Avignon.
In 1985 he attended the Atelier de Recherche Instrumental organized by Pierre Yves Artaud at Ircam in Paris.
From 1986 to 1994 he took part in the Ferienkurse fur Neue Musik in Darmstadt.


* In 1986 he received the 1st prize at the “Icoms International Competition” in Turin with the piece “Ancora Capetingi” (for violin, violoncello and piano).
* Also in 1986 his piece “Les Capetièns partout” (for ensemble) was reported at the “Alfredo Casella International Competition” in Siena.


*In 2001, the piece “Zig Zag Bubble” (for solo piano) won the 2nd Prize at the AGIMUS Varenna National Competition.
*Also in 2001 the piece “Pater Emòn” (for 8 mixed voices) was reported at the “International Competition Guido d’Arezzo”.


*In 2002 his work “Zig Zag Bubble” (for solo piano) was selected for the XI edition of Belgrade’s International Review of Composers.
* Also in 2002 he won the 2nd Prize at the 3rd National Taranto Sound Composition Competition with the piece “Acid Bla” (for clarinet, basso clarinet, trumpet and trombone).


*In 2003 he won the 2nd prize at the “International Competition of composition Guido d’Arezzo” with the piece “Salmo 112″ (for 12 mixed voices and string quartet).
*Also in 2003 the piece “Mir” (for solo organ) won the 2nd prize ex aequo at the 2nd “National Composition Competition Rocco Rodio” – Castellana Grotte (BA).


* In 2010, after being selected by SIMC Italia to participate in the World New Music Days 2010, her piece “Pater Emòn” (for 8 mixed voices) was selected by the ISCM International Committee to be performed by the Sydney Chamber Choir Of the WNMD 2010 Festival (Sydney).
*Also in 2010 his piece (1st part) for electronics “to JL” (ePWsM 03a) was selected to participate in “LUCCAdigitalPHOTOfest”, associated with photographic works by Turin Giorgia Fiorio.


*In 2012 he received the Special Mention with the piece “Mobile Uploads” (for Saxophone Quartet) at the “10th International Competition of Composition Romualdo Marenco” – Novi Ligure (AL).


*In 2014 he received the Diploma of Merit with the piece “Zig Zag Bubble” (for piano) at the XVI edition of the “International Music Tournament (TIM) 2014″.
*Also in 2014, as “Most Distinguished Musician”, he received the “Special Mention” with the piece “In una rada scia” (for guitar) at the New York’s 23rd Annual World Music Competition ( USA).


* In 2015 the piece “Effimere Emergenze, Eremi, Eclissi (ePWsM 03)” was selected by CaminArt Association to participate in the 2015 edition of the International Festival of Electroacoustic Music MUSLAB (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, France).


* In January 2016, the piece “Rubber, Lime & Glue (ePWsM 04)” (for electronics) was selected and published by the online magazine “ink & queue” – http: //www.inkandcoda.com
*In February 2016, the piece “Effimere Emergenze, Eremi, Eclissi (ePWsM 03)” (for electronics) was selected to participate in the 2016 edition of the NYCEMF – New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival (June 13-19, 2016 at The Abrons Arts Center in New York City).
*Also in February 2016, the piece “Ricerca manipolata (e dato falso) sulla caducità” (for electronics) was selected by the UiTM Music Faculty to attend the Malaysia Music Technology Festival – SPECTRA 2016 (24th-25th September 2016 at Whitebox Publika Solaris Dutamas Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
* In March 2016, the piece “Folio Cinque” (for solo piano) was honored with “Honorable Mention” at the 2nd edition of the International Composition Competition 2015 de Bach au Jazz (under The auspices of “Association Nathalie” – (Paris – France).
* In April 2016, the piece “Incoming Call” (for guitar) was selected by New Music on the Bayou Festival Committee for “New Music on the Bayou Summer Festival” (01-04 June 2016 – Monroe & Ruston (Lousiana).
* Also in April 2016, the piece “Rubber, Lime & Glue (ePWsM 04)” (for electronics) was selected to attend the Wallis Forum (Ars Electronica 2016) – (12 -16 May 2016 Schloss Leuk – Switzerland).
* In June 2016, the piece “Effimere Emergenze, Eremi, Eclissi (ePWsM 03)” (for electronics) was selected to participate in the 2016 EMM (Electronic Music Midwest) (October 13-15, 2016 – Lewis University – Chicago USA).
* In July 2016 he received the Diploma of Merit with the piece “Yellow for Piet” (for clarinet and piano) at the XVIII edition of the International Music Tournament (TIM) 2016.
* In July 2016 the piece “Mohenjo Daro” (for electronics) was selected to participate in the thematic meeting – whose theme was “Moving in Sound Space” – promoted by FKL (Forum Klangland schaft) – (Agropoli 8-11 September 2016).
* Also in July 2016, as “Most Distinguished Musician”, he received the “Special Mention” with the piece “Folio Cinque” (for piano) at the IBLA Grand Prize ( 25th Annual World Music Competition 2016) in New York (USA).
* In September 2016, the piece “Folio Sette” (by hook or by crook) was honored with “Honorable Mention” at “The Opus Dissonus Competition 2016 (Brasil)”. “This award has been specially given by Maestro Artur Cimirro, who will play and record it in the near future.”
* In November 2016, the piece “Rubber, Lime and Glue (ePWsM 04) (for electronics) was selected to participate in Rieti Elettroacustica 2016 – Bateau Lavoir Call for electroacoustic works.
* In December 2016, the piece “Rubber, Lime & Glue (ePWsM 04) (for electronics) was selected to participate in the MA / IN – Matera Intermedia Festival 2016 (Matera – December 17-22, 2016).


* In February 2017 the piece “to JL (ePWsM 03 ab)” (for electronics) was selected to attend the 2017 edition of the NYCEMF – New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival (June 19-25, 2017 at the Abrons Arts Center in New York City and July 14-16, 2017 at National Sawdust in Brooklyn)
* In February 2017 the piece “Effimere Emergenze, Eremi, Eclissi (ePWsM 1-3)” (for electronics) was selected to attend the MISE-EN MUSIC FESTIVAL 2017 (June 20-25, 2017 – New York USA).
* In February 2017 the piece “Rubber, Lime & Glue (ePWsM 04) (for electronics) was selected (jukebox section) to attend the audiograft Festival (Oxford – UK) and to be present on the” Sonic Art Research Unit webpages At Oxford Brookes University ” In addition, the piece was presented at “Ashmolean Live Friday Supersonic – Oxford Contemporary Music 03.03.2017″.
*In April 2017, the piece “Effimere Emergenze, Eremi, Eclissi (ePWsM 1-3)” (for electronics) was selected to attend the Wallis Forum (Ars Electronica 2017) (02-03 June 2017 Schloss Leuk – Switzerland).

Commissions or other …

* In 1988 he performed on stage at the CRT (Milan Theatrical Research Center) in his musical work “Zwei Szenen Uber Paul” (text by Eliot, Jabes and Pasolini) directed by Giovanni Carluccio, commissioned by CRT – Theater Research Center and Civic School of Music in Milan.
* In 2006, at the Salle Cortot in Paris, was performed the piece “Nefernefruaten-tasherit or Nernefrura?”, commission of the OFF, flute player Pierre Yves Artaud and director M ° Pierre Alain Biget.
* In the academic year 2011-2012, with the rapporteur M ° Mario Caroli, the flutist Laura Faoro, spoke of the piece “Ad Tertiam” (for basso flute and thaj gongs – 1987) in his thesis (cap.V titled “La Flute voice between Christian mysticism and Japanese spiritualism: Molteni and Fukushima “) useful for the Master of Advanced Studies in Flute Contemporary Music Performance and Interpretation at the Italian Conservatory.
* In 2013, at the San Fedele church in Milan, the piece “Sei Brevi per organo” was played by M ° Francesco Catena, commissioned by “Centro Culturale” San Fedele “in Milan and M ° Antonio Pileggi.
* In 2014, his piece “Lunaria” (for piano) was chosen by the commission of the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland (Advanced Course held by M ° Ciro Longobardi) for the achievement of MAS – Master of Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music Performance and Interpretation.
* In 2014, at the Teatro Fondamenta Nuove in Venice, a project designed by Lucia D’Errico entitled “Tha Waste Land” (The Rite of Death in the Repertoire), for which the Venetian guitarist has asked to include three electronic pieces by Marco Molteni: “to JL” / “Rubber, Lime And Glue” / “Effimere Emergenze, Eremi, Eclissi”.
* In June 2014, the piece “Heiliger Dankgesang” was commissioned by the festival RISUONANZE 2014.
